A St. Patrick’s Day Birthday

By Lorraine

A St. Patrick's Day Birthday
St Patrick’s Day has always been special in our family since it was also my moms birthday. The photo above is a St. Patrick’s Day Birthday given in honor of Mommy way back in the 1960’s. Held at my aunts house with friends, my dad (in white shirt) and me (in green dress).

And a few more March 17th Birthday photos from years past.

A St. Patrick's Day Birthday
Here, surrounded by some of her great grandchildren celebrating  another St Patrick’s Day birthday. It was the last one she celebrated before being called to heaven to meet her Savior.

A St. Patrick's Day Birthday
I’ve mentioned Mommy’s life-long passion for sewing.
Recently I came across this pattern for a dress she made for me.
I am wearing it in the top photo to her birthday party and also (below) to her brother’s wedding that same month.

A St. Patrick's Day Birthday

I have a sweet memory of wearing this dress.
I vividly remember, after telling my kindergarten teacher that I had forgotten my milk money, she took me by the hand to several  different classrooms to show the other teachers my fancy dress.

What wonderful family photos! The one at the bottom with you and your mother is just adorable. And the top one, with your mom blowing out the candles, is a real classic.

What a sweet post. My Mother also made all of my clothes as a child–and a teen. I enjoyed sewing for my girls as well.

I love your memories from the past. The photos are fabulous and what a treasure to find the pattern your mom used for your special dress. It was lovely! My mom used to sew my clothes too. She would go to the stores to see what was in style and then find a pattern that was similar. It was a great way to dress nicely on a budget.

    Happy St. Patrick's Day!

    Blessings and love,
    Debbie
