Keri’s stay last week was short so she is spending a few more days here with us this week. I have been thinking that the child’s robe would be fitting her soon and I was right. Keri was happy to twirl about and model the crochet robe made by her great-grandmother, for our oldest daughter many years ago.
My mom was a skilled seamstress as well and a fine knitter and crocheter. Whatever she put her hand to do, she did it with all of her might and ability. Her many crochet projects are still enjoyed today by those she lovingly shared her gifts with.
As an engagement gift, Mommy crocheted this beautiful robe for me. Its to-the-floor length and three-quarter sleeve is like wearing a warm afghan! She spent many hours altering and designing a pattern, crocheting each stitch and sewing on each of the thirteen buttons down the front. It has a ruffly, Peter Pan collar and tie around the neck and bodice. I think it is made with a sport weight yarn.

looks so beautiful!
What treasures! You have such precious memories of your mother's handiwork. Now your granddaughters can share them with you.

Wow! Those robes are absolutely amazing. And your little grand-daughter looks a whole lot like you. Best wishes, Tammy
I'm loving the beautiful family photos. Your mom was very talented and her hard work is being relished to the newer generations. My mom used to knit, crochet, needlepoint, and sew. I have sweaters she made for me that I cherish. She died six years ago so I'm glad I still have those pieces of her work.
Blessings and love,
Debbie
Pretty in pink {and blue!}.
How sweet that you still have them both.
I was enjoying reading this and thinking of how gifted my mother is with her hands too. Your mother's gifts to you and your daughter are absolutely beautiful, LDH, I love the colors so soft and feminine, and the needle work stunning. The photos of you and your granddaughter Priceless! Treasures that last a lifetime, and keep right on giving joy, Now that really is Priceless!
As always a joy to visit.
Hugs,
Sue
your family is so perfectly wonderful!
Hi
Welcome to my blog
https://my-way-here.blogspot.com/
Hello, i've seen your comment on my crown article. I'd be glad you translate my tutorial. I'm looking forward to have news.
Kitouchy.
What beautiful heirlooms and memories. Your mother was indeed an artist.
How truly beautiful it is that the work of one's hands can be passed on to the next generation. Your pics inspire me to find more time for crochet. And you still look as pretty as in your photo taken years ago! God bless.
Lorraine, I am soo happy to be back visiting with you again after so long, missed you! I notice the beautiful new design which makes your space here all the more warm and welcoming! After not having much access to the internet for a while during the holiday, I came back with such a long list of entries to catch up on.
The robe even though has been passed down actually looks brand new! Keri and your daughters look so adorable wearing it (and their smiles too!)
Btw, kust went through your blog with my mum 😉 She loves it too! 🙂 Thanks for all your sharing and friendship Lorraine!
Talented hands too Lorraine. What beautiful pieces to pass on….amazing heirlooms.
Beautiful~ …the memories, the love, from generation to generation. Such a sweet post. Oh and how much your grand-daughter looks like her mommy, uncanny.
I have never seen a crocheted robe but these really are beautiful, just like the ladies wearing them! How sweet! And what a treasure to know whose precious hands made them!

It is so sweet to have such lovely treasures handmade by a special loved one! You have kept them as lovely as the day they were made. (And you, my friend, haven't gained an ounce! Oh, to be the size I was when first married!)
Such wonderful memories for you and your grand girls!
Blessings!
Just beautiful and how wonderful to see your talent runs in the family. Great pictures Love Heather

Sweet post–love the robes, and the colors. Great memories!
Lorraine,
that is absolutely beautiful…and it has been preserved so well. What lovely memories~
Love this! Love treasures that are passed through the generations 🙂
Lorraine, I cannot think of sweeter pictures and I love the story. My mother was a great knitter and she and her friend Lillian worked together to do patterns for outfits they wanted to make. They are both of blessed memory now, but I can see them still knitting together and laughing. Thanks for bringing back some great memories. Hugs to you, John and family!
Lorraine, I have never seen crocheted robes before and these are just lovely. What priceless memories and treasured keepsakes. Another beautiful post. I so enjoyed reading and seeing your precious family.

What sweet robes your mother made and how wonderful to have all those dear memories of your girls wearing the pretty pink one. Keri looks adorable in it…
I don't have things like this with a past….but you've inspired me to make sure there are things like this in the future.
You look beautiful in your robe too…both then and now!
Lorraine — your Mom was very talented with crochet hook and yarn. I don't know that I've seen such wonderful garments crocheted before. What a treat to get to share the robe with your daughters and now grands too.
Blessings!

What a beautiful memory – tangible and in thought. This post made me feel a little weepy. I don't know many people, aside from me, who keep such treasures for the next generation. I have a collection of things from my grandmother and great grandmother – I was the only one in this generation to want them – and I am handing them out to nieces and nephews and to my children whenever one of them expresses admiration or interest.
Such a treasure from your mother's fingers.
These photos are beautiful and lovely as keepsakes. My mom loved to knit and I have many beautiful pieces to pass down. Hugs, Deb=^..^=x4
How blessed to have a mother that took the time to make such beautiful gifts! Such precious grandbabies!
Blessings, Audrey
What treasures to pass along to the next generation and the photos are sweet as can be. I know your Mom would be so pleased that her work of "heart" keeps giving JOY! Thanks for sharing Keri with us today. The photo of you two is adorable.
