Ham & Cheese Crescent Hand Pies

Ham & cheese hand pies, a quick and easy hot sandwich. Fill crescent roll dough with Swiss, cheddar or American cheese and bake!Everyone needs a quick and easy meal to get on the table when the day has been a busy one. An inexpensive meal that tastes great and kid friendly is even better. Ham & cheese crescent hand pies even work if you have to eat on the run!

Hand pie serving suggestions

Easy recipe for ham & cheese hand pies are a quick and easy lunch or dinner hot sandwich. Fill crescent roll dough with Swiss, cheddar or American cheese, sprinkle with poppy or sesame seeds, if desired and bake!If you want to go the extra mile, simply brush with an egg wash and sprinkle with poppy or sesame seeds. Serve with carrot and celery sticks, a cup of soup, apple slices, salad or potato chips.

 

How to make ham & cheese crescent hand pies

Deli ham and cheddar cheeseUse deli ham or leftover baked ham and your favorite cheese. We like either Swiss, cheddar or American cheese.

Separate the crescent dough into 4 rectangles. Firmly pinch the diagonal perforations to seal.

Add the mustard, if using. As much as you like.

Gently transfer the hand pies to an ungreased cookie sheet. In small bowl, beat egg with water until frothy. Brush the tops of hand pies with thin layer of egg wash.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 can (12 oz) Pillsbury crescent dinner rolls
  • Cooked ham, deli or leftover from a baked ham, about 1 to 1 1/2 deli slices per hand pie 
  • about 4-ounces cheese (Swiss, cheddar or American)
  • mustard (yellow, spicy or Dijon) 
  • 1 egg 
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • poppy or sesame seeds (optional)

DIRECTIONS

Heat oven to 350°F.

Separate crescent dough into 4 rectangles; firmly press perforations to seal.

Place one-fourth of the ham and about 1-ounce of cheese on one half of each dough rectangle.

Add the mustard, if using.

Fold the other half of the dough rectangles over the filling.

With a fork, seal edges.

Gently transfer the hand pies to an ungreased cookie sheet.
