I think you will love easy BBQ air fryer chicken thighs that cook up quickly for a delicious, budget friendly, family dinner.

Besides being a great method for preparing frozen foods that are meant to taste deep-fried like frozen French fries, mozzarella sticks and chicken nuggets, air fryers do a splendid job cooking chicken.

 

Like these boneless, skinless chicken thighs. Hardly any prep and about 30 minutes cook time for a juicy and tender dinner that will make you think of summertime. At the end of this post, I have a few suggestions for side dishes that totally compliment the BBQ chicken.

How to make BBQ air fryer chicken thighs

 

Trimming fat from chicken for honey ginger chicken thighs made in the air fryer.

It is optional, but I like to cut off the extra fat from the chicken thighs using kitchen shears before cooking. 

 

Adding oil for making skinless, boneless BBQ chicken thighs in the air fryer. oil for making BBQ air fryers chicken thighs.

Lightly coat the chicken pieces with vegetable or olive oil and season with salt and pepper.

 

 

Adding garlic powder for making skinless, boneless BBQ chicken thighs in the air fryer.

Add as much garlic powder as you like. Additionally, you can sprinkle on any of your favorite seasonings such as Italian seasoning, onion powder, or oregano. I don’t add extra seasonings since the barbecue sauce provides most of the flavor.

 

Placing pieces into basket for skinless, boneless BBQ chicken thighs in the air fryer.

Place the seasoned chicken pieces in the air fryer basket. Preferably you want to have space between the pieces so that air can circulate all around. Even though the pieces are a little crowded, they still came out juicy and tender. 

 

 

Basting pieces with barbecue sauce for skinless, boneless BBQ chicken thighs in the air fryer.

Cook in a preheated 370F. degree air fryer 15 mins, then brush on Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce; flip and brush this side with sauce. Cook 12 minutes more.

 

 

BBQ skinless, boneless air fryer chicken thighs.

Brush on additional BBQ sauce; return to air fryer and cook 3 minutes more or until chicken reaches a temperature of 165F. degrees.

BBQ Air Fryer Chicken Thighs

INGREDIENTS

  • Package of 4 skinless, boneless chicken thighs
  • Olive or vegetable oil
  • salt and pepper
  • garlic powder
  • Sweet Baby Rays or your favorite barbecue sauce

 

DIRECTIONS

Lightly coat the chicken pieces with olive oil.

Season all over with salt and pepper.

Sprinkle with garlic powder and any additional seasonings you might like.

Place the chicken into the fryer basket.

Cook in a preheated 370F. degree air fryer 15 mins.

Brush on Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce; flip, coat the bottom with BBQ sauce and cook 12 mins more.

Brush on additional BBQ sauce (if desired); return to air fryer and cook 3 minutes more or until chicken reaches a temperature of 165F. degrees.
