Shasta Daisies Gift Tags

By Lorraine

I can share my daisies with you. Shasta Daisies Gift Tags Free printable gift tags with poem for gift-giving.
These Shasta Daisies Gift Tags started as a need to fill a patch of space along a walkway to the front door. We had to remove some hinoki cypress bushes that were looking shabby and wanted to replace them with something inexpensive. Like free inexpensive. I spotted a Shasta Daisy we planted several years prior that was now getting pretty large.

A Field of Shasta daisies

I can share my daisies with you. Shasta Daisies Gift Tags Free printable gift tags with poem for gift-giving.
Last spring, we divided the bush in the driveway berm and replanted a large section in its original location and then separated the rest into small portions to plant in the empty space where the hinoki were. That first season the daisy plants looked a little straggly but still managed to produced a few flowers. By this spring, they were filling out nicely.

Then, this happened…

Yes, the front of our house became a field of bright, cheerful daisies. Encroaching on the walkway in a most delightful way.

Swaying in the breeze, attracting little white cabbage moths and turning their faces to follow the sun.

I can certainly share a daisy, or two… or a hundred with you.

Instead I made a printable to share. Sweet gift tags. Now you can brighten someone’s day by sharing a flower too. A single stem or a clump of something growing in your garden maybe. I bet you can think of someone right now whose day would be brightened and spirit lifted by this small gesture.

Print the tags on regular paper or print on card stock for a sturdier tag. I don’t have a color printer so I saved the PDF (link below) to a flash drive and went to Staples for printing. Very inexpensive.

Cut the tags apart, punch a hole in a corner and attach a string. Look around your yard or just purchase a bouquet from the grocery store. Leave it on the doorstep for a friend to find or hand it to a person so you’ll see the smile it brings.

Sharing burdens poem

Here are the words to this sweet poem by Maude V. Preston.

There isn’t much that I can do,
But I can share my bread with you,
And I can share my joy with you,
And sometimes share a sorrow too
As on our way we go.
There isn’t much that I can do,
But I can sit an hour with you,
And I can share a story with you,
And sometimes share reverses, too,
As on our way we go.
There isn’t much that I can do,
But I can share my flowers with you,
And I can share my books with you,
And sometimes share your burdens, too,
As on our way we go.
There isn’t much that I can do,
But I can share my songs with you,
And I can share my mirth with you,
And sometimes come and laugh with you,
As on our way we go.
There isn’t much that I can do,
But I can share my hopes with you,
And I can share my fears with you,
And sometimes shed some tears with you,
As on our way we go.
There isn’t much that I can do,
But I can share my friends with you,
And I can share my life with you,
And ofttimes share a prayer with you,
As on our way we go.

A few tips for growing classic perennial Shasta Daisies

  • Shasta Daisies return every spring or early summer and bloom until early fall.
  • They prefer full sun though my plants are growing along the walkway are next to the garage and receive only morning light.
  • Soil should be moderately fertile, not overly rich, and moist but well-drained.
  • Shasta daisies tend to bloom in clumps from 2 to 3 feet tall
  • They are a great for cutting
  • Space plants 1 to 2 feet apart.
  • After the first killing frost, cut stems back to an inch or two above the soil line.
  • Every spring, apply some compost and mulch to help control weds
  • Every 3 to 4 years, divide perennials in early spring or late summer. Share the love with friends and neighbors with cuttings or divisions. Populate the world with Shasta Daisies 🙂
