Anniversary Getaway
Our anniversary is coming up soon so we planned an overnight trip to celebrate.
We left Sunday morning and drove to Lancaster Pennsylvania for our anniversary getaway, enjoying the pastoral scenes that are everywhere in this beautiful area. After checking into a hotel, we headed to Longhorn Steakhouse for lunch using a gift card my daughter gave me for my birthday!Continue Reading

He is With Us…. Always, always
If you are in need of encouragement, no matter what you are experiencing, the truth of this song, He is With Us by Love and the Outcome, will lighten your heart. He is with us, not just sometimes, not just when things are going well, but always. We can TRUST our God.
Infant Crochet Leg Warmers & Baby Beanie
Our Jamie is expecting a baby boy the end of this month and she asked me to make a pair of crochet leg warmers for him to wear home from the hospital. I gave some thought to the length of a infant newborn leg, the diameter of the thigh and ankle and came up with a tiny, cuffed pair to keep those little legs warm. Of course, there needs to be a matching beanie for his little noggin and a super soft blanket to swaddle him in.

counting my blessings
Since we don’t see these precious grands as often as our others, photos from Jill are greatly appreciated!
Perfect weather, and a very dear friend visiting from Texas made for an extra special outside brunch to celebrate birthdays.
An Autumn Carnival was the theme for Grandparents Day at Keri and Noah’s school.
The weather was perfect for a full morning of activities with both sets of grandparents loving these two kiddos.
and a reminder why I really blog…
John called my attention recently to the kids at the computer. I was so surprised to see them having fun perusing my blog and laughing at posts that include them. When they scroll to the bottom of each page they see the list of labels I add to each post making it easy for them to click and and go every post that is about them.
It truly warmed my heart to see this.

Short Infinity Scarf

Short and quick projects can be so rewarding. Instant gratification for finishing a project. It is even better when the end result is a warm and snugly neck warmer. It doesn’t take much time to crochet a short infinity scarf for someone you love.
After School with the Grandchildren
I spent the afternoon visiting with Jamie and her children, taking photos and helping with homework. After school with the grandchildren is a time for me to connect with these dear little ones and gives their mom a short reprieve.

Crochet Braided Scarf

The temps are beginning to drop around here and it is beginning to look a little like autumn.
Have you been noticing the crochet braided infinity scarves showing up on Pinterest and on blogs?
They work up quickly and are very adaptable to changes.
Country Apple Coffee Cake
No mixer needed to make this Country Apple Coffee Cake. It begins with a tube of refrigerated biscuits. I pulled out one of my oldest recipes remembering this yummy treat that is just right with coffee or a cold glass of milk.
Love each other deeply
For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.

Having fun in the photo booth!

do you suppose it was John’s glasses and sombrero that scared them away 😉
Sauteed Apples is a Perfect Side
If there is one side dish that is perfect with so many meals, it would have to be Sauteed Apples. I learned of this recipe from a longtime friend and I have lost count of how many times I have made it since.Continue Reading
Pigs in a Blanket
No one really needs a recipe for pigs in a blanket. A tube of crescent rolls and either hot-dogs or cocktail sausages, a few minutes in the oven and you have a tasty snack or appetizer. Serve with some plain or fancy mustard for dipping and you’re set! Sprinkle with poppy or sesame seeds before baking, if desired.Continue Reading
Before the Throne
Before the Throne of God Above
words: Charitie L. Bancroft, 1863
Before the throne of God above
I have a strong, a perfect plea
A great high Priest whose Name is Love
Who ever lives and pleads for me
My name is graven on His hands
My name is written on His heart
I know that while in heaven He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart
When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end to all my sin
Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free
For God the just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me
Behold Him there the risen Lamb
My perfect spotless righteousness
The great unchangeable I am
The King of glory and of grace
One with Himself I cannot die
My soul is purchased by His blood
My life is hid with Christ on high
With Christ my Savior and my God!
One with Himself I cannot die
My soul is purchased by His blood
My life is hid with Christ on high
With Christ my Savior and my God!
