Chicken Divan Casserole

Chicken Divan Casserole

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 cups diced cooked chicken breast
  • 2 lb broccoli cut into bite size pieces and steamed
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 5 tbls butter
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbls Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese/ divided
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley

 

Topping:

  • 11/2 cup panko breadcrumbs (or crushed Ritz crackers)
  • 3 tbls melted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic chopped
  • Preheat oven to 400F.

 

In a 13×9 casserole, lay the steamed broccoli down. Sprinkle the cooked chicken on top.

In a pot melt butter over medium heat.

Whisk in flour and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly. Whisk in broth, milk, Worcestershire, Dijon and all seasonings.

Bring sauce to a boil, whisking constantly then reduce heat to a simmer, whisking often until thickened.

Remove from heat and whisk in 2 cups cheddar until melted. Add sour cream.

Pour sauce evenly over chicken and broccoli.

Top with remaining up van cheddar.

Combine topping ingredients and scatter over.

Bake for 30 minutes or until golden and bubbly. Sprinkle with parsley
