Chocolate dipped dried fruit such as apricot and pineapple chunks make a lovely food gift from your kitchen, especially packaged in a crystal stemmed glass and ties with a festive bow!
Want a gift that is elegant looking, easy to do and inexpensive? Chocolate Covered Dried Apricots fit the bill. It also is great to do with dried pineapple pieces!

I decided to dip dried fruit into melted chocolate and present in beautiful crystal stemware that I found at Home Goods and The Christmas Tree Shop. This pair of flutes filled with the chocolaty tidbits is for a sweet couple on my gift-giving list.

You can package the fruit in various containers. Small metal tins and Mason jars are a great choice but for something a little more special, I like a pretty wine glass with a simple bow.

How to make Chocolate Covered Dried Apricots

Ghirardelli chocolate to melt for dipping dried apricot and pineapple pieces for gifts.
Begin with a 4 oz. bar of semi-sweet chocolate such as Ghirardelli. You can use whatever chocolate you prefer. I also love dark chocolate 🙂

Have a bag of dried apricots and pineapples ready and break the chocolate bar into small, uniform pieces for even melting.

Place chocolate in microwave oven in a heatproof glass bowl or container and heat at medium power for 30-second intervals. Remove and stir each time before returning to microwave and repeating.

Each microwave is unique and affects the chocolate differently so monitor closely. When only small lumps remain, remove and continue to stir until completely melted.

Be sure that your work surface, pans, and tools are absolutely dry before melting chocolate.

Simply dip each piece of fruit into the melted chocolate coating halfway or so.

After dipping each piece of fruit, place on a tray lined with a silicon mat, parchment or waxed paper.

Place the tray in the fridge and allow the chocolate to cool and harden. The number of pieces you will get from the chocolate depends on how thick the fruit is coated and how big each fruit piece is.
