Crunchy Frisco Salad

1980's retro recipe, Crunchy Frisco Salad is an easy recipe using just 5-ingredients. Mandarin oranges, mushrooms greens, fried onions and Italian dressing.
Here is a retro recipe from the 1980’s.  Crunchy Frisco salad is a five-ingredient salad. It combines the crunch from the greens and the sweet citrus of the Mandarin oranges along with a sprinkling of sliced mushrooms. Tossed with Italian dressing and topped with French Fried onions, it is simple and delicious.

Crunchy Frisco Salad

Serves 6
INGREDIENTS
  • 2 quarts salad greens
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 11-ounce can Mandarin oranges, drained and chilled
  • 3-oz French fried onions
  • 1/2 cup Italian Salad dressing
 
DIRECTIONS
Toss greens, mushrooms and oranges. Just before serving add fried onions and Italian dressing. Toss gently.

    That sounds like a salad of today except maybe for the french fried onions–do we still use fresh mushrooms on salads? I do! It all sounds like something I'd make today. It's interesting how food styles come and go just like clothing and house decor. 🙂

    I would use canned mushrooms instead…… love 'em cooked but don't like them fresh or raw, lol!
