Easy Peasy Crochet Lamb Ornaments

By Lorraine

Easy peasy crochet lamb ornaments work up so quickly you can make a whole flock of them to decorate your Christmas tree and gift packages.

Aren’t these adorable. Ann and Marie, two of my long-time, super creative, blogging friends shared this idea for a really quick-to-make project. Adorn your Christmas tree with easy-peasy crochet lamb ornaments or use them to embellish your gifts. You can make a whole flock of adorable lambs in an evening.

I wish I could share a link to the original source but even a search on Pinterest didn’t help. I just used a photo for inspiration and directions from Ann’s adaptation.

Crochet Wreath

Sweet little holiday wreaths can be made the same way. Choose a shade of green yarn and embellish with a tiny red bow and/or tiny stick-on gems.

Easy peasy crochet wreath ornaments work up super quickly. Use them to decorate your Christmas tree and gift packages. Inexpensive and cute for teachers, friends and neighbors. These crochet wreaths are sweet to decorate gift bags or presents. I make 3-inch x 5-inch cakes or quick bread to give as gifts to neighbors and friends. Presented in a small gift bag with a homemade ornament, you have a cute, inexpensive and thoughtful gift.

How to make crochet lamb ornaments

Easy peasy crochet lamb ornaments work up so quickly you can make a whole flock of them to decorate your Christmas tree and gift packages. From a piece of felt, cut out lamb head. At first I used fabric glue but found it easier to use a hot glue gun since there is no waiting for the glue to dry. Add a tuft of yarn to the top of the head (sorry, no pic of this).

Crochet lamb ornaments can be made in different yarn but the homespun brand will give it a bumpy/curly look.

Crochet Lamb Ornaments using Shower Curtain Rings

SUPPLIES

Plastic shower curtain rings

small amount of yarn in color of choice. I used Lion Brand Homespun yarn, color Pearls (shown in first photo)

Crochet hook (I used H-size)

Black felt or color of choice for the head of the lamb. Note: you could also use black card stock. I don’t recommend construction paper.

Hot glue gun and glue sticks

thin twigs or sticks for legs

FOR WREATH:

stick-on rhinestone gems

Tiny red bows or ribbon to make bows

Lion Brand Homespun yarn, green

HOW-TO

Close plastic shower curtain ring.

Attach yarn with a square knot where the closure is, leaving a length that you will use for making a hanging loop.

Single crochet around the ring until it is completely covered. The number of single crochet will vary depending on the yarn used. I worked 35-40 single crochet around the rings I used.

When the ring is covered, cut the yarn, leaving a tail; tie a square knot with the beginning length of yarn and then knot the two piece together, forming a loop.

Use the pattern to cut out the lamb head.

Using hot glue, attach felt head to the top of the ring.

Swirl a tiny piece of yarn into a circular shape and glue it to the top of the head.

Cut thin twigs or sticks 1.5-inches long. Attach to the back with the hot glue.

Love the lamb ornament. We have sheep so I will have to put this on my to do list. Wreath is cute too. I have still NEVER tried your German Star yet. Years ago I got one from an ornament swap and it was from fabric and also ran across your blog around then.

    TFS!

Merry Christmas to you and your Family!

Merry Christmas to you too, Lana! The lamb ornament is prefect for you as you keep sheep at your place. Maybe after the busyness of the holidays you can find a few minutes to make some German Stars too. It is a really easy to follow tutorial. Thanks for your visit! Kindly, Lorraine

This infant beanie is my pattern with matching legwarmers and edging for baby blanket.  I added ear-flaps because the little guy it went to was born lots earlier than expected.
