gathering

By Lorraine

Gathering and drying hydrangea blossoms for projects.I have been gathering and cutting hydrangea blooms and brought them in to dry. Some are huge. I had enough for a large vase full for my (newly) painted powder room. I will post about the re-done powder room shortly.

and for a wreath that I have been moving about looking for just the right location.

Gathering

I dry hydrangeas simply by setting the cut stems in a vase of water. In the past, I have dried them by hanging upside down but this is so much easier and they dry quickly. It is important to leave the blossoms on the bush until they begin to dry naturally and become papery. I cut these hydrangeas in late September.

Beautiful! At our last house I had lots of hydrangea bushes but could never bring myself to cut the blooms. I regret that now.

What a lovely way to have hydrangeas in your home over the winter. They look especially nice on the white frames. You are a creative and gifted lady!

These are beautiful. We're planning on planting them and I hope they are as beautiful as yours. Thanks for the tips on how to dry them.

The wreath is so beautiful! I love hydrangeas but they don't do well in the dry Phoenix weather. But I have dried hydrangeas in a vase on my kitchen table.

    Blessings and love,
    Debbie

OOO! I love Hydrangeas. That is one thing that I have missed about moving to Texas. They keep telling me that they don't do very well around here. Yours are beautiful. I also love your blog header. Nicely done!

I love the wreath. I didn't get any blooms on my hydrangea at all this year. I was a little disappointed.

I love hydrangeas, but my poor plant struggled back this year with only one pretty pink flower. Do you have any tips? Yours are really beautiful, I like the wreath on the mirror. xo

Oh my goodness, Lorraine, they are beautiful! What big blooms!
Do you simply leave them in the vase (without water?) until they are dried? No silica gel or hanging upside down?
