Necklace and Jewelry Organizer

By Lorraine

No more hassle with tangled necklaces and bracelets! Perfect DIY wall-mounted necklace Jewelry organizer keeps every piece handy and looks great too!

I like necklaces. I wear one every day. I have a lot. They hung from door knobs… over hooks…
and hangers everywhere. The problem: Organizing them.

Now I have no more hassle with tangled necklaces and bracelets! This perfect, DIY wall-mounted necklace jewelry organizer keeps every piece handy and it looks great too!

This is before, an unorganized mess as I tried to keep my necklaces from tangling. This organization system was not working.

The solution:

An easy to make necklace and jewelry organizer shelf that would hold a lot of necklaces and bracelets without tangling and within easy reach.

How to make a necklace and jewelry organizer shelf

No more hassle with tangled necklaces and bracelets! Perfect DIY wall-mounted necklace Jewelry organizer keeps every piece handy and looks great too!

I made a two-tier shelf to hang all of those necklaces to keep them from tangling and for easy access.

My husband found a few pieces of wood trim in the garage and cut them to 40-inch lengths and nailed them together. This simple design provided two levels to hang many necklaces in a small space and still keep them separated. A little sanding a couple coats of primer and paint and it is ready to add hooks.

I found large white upholstery nails and nailed them about an inch apart across most of the shelf and a little further apart at the opposite end for wider bracelets.

A place for everything

My board used exactly 100 tacks (4 boxes of 25).

Now, a place for everything and everything in its place! After dressing I can see what I have and what works with the outfit I am wearing. I simply lift it off of the nail hook and then at the end of the day it is a cinch to replace it. Always organized. 🙂

Best of all, the necklace jewelry organizer  takes up very little space. I intended to hang this on a wall in my walk-in closet but thought it pretty enough to display in my dressing area with my necklaces right at my fingertips.

      Hi Alyssa,

We attached the jewelry organizer shelf to the wall first by drilling two holes (3/16″ by 1/2″ deep) in the back of the top board of shelf (3″ in from each edge) with an upward angle toward the top of the shelf. Measure the exact distance between the center of the holes. Using 2 2-1/2″ finishing nails to hang the shelf by nailing the first nail in the wall in a downward angle to correspond to the upward angle of the hole keeping 1/2″ of the nail exposed. With the distance you measured between the holes, nail the second nail that distance from the first nail at the same downward angle. Take the shelf and place on the wall by hanging on the nails. That is how we made it flush to the wall. Enjoy.

Thanks so much for your visit,

      Lorraine

This is a lil of topic, but how are those plates staying put? Did you stick them to the wall?

This is great! I got a great spot for it, just need to get it made. I'm thinking of a thicker bottom with eye hooks for my earrings 🙂

Thank you so much for the idea

The longest nails I can find are less than an inch. I am concerned that the nails will become loose after a bit of use. What have you found?

This idea is so much more practical than what I have going now, which is basically an over-crowded cork board. I will have to give this a try, especially since I've been adding tons of new necklaces to my site that I want to make!
