Somebody Bigger

By Lorraine

During our recent trip to Cape May, New Jersey we left the hotel in the wee hours of the morning and walked to the beach while it was still dark.

We stood in awe as the darkness slipped away and color began to fill the horizon in shades that can’t be described.
Soon the sun appeared as the waves broke onto the shore and a few sandpipers scurried back and forth.

Somebody bigger…

the truth couldn’t be more evident standing on the beach as a new day unfolded.
The song lyrics below doesn’t mention the ocean or a sunrise but I share because
it declares the whole earth is filled with His wonders.

Somebody Bigger

By Lange, Heathe and Burke

Who made the mountains?
Who made the trees?
Who made the rivers
Flow to the sea?
And Who put the moon
In the starry sky?
Somebody bigger than you or I.
Who made the flowers
Bloom in the spring?
Who writes the song
For the robin to sing?
And Who sends the rain
When the earth is dry?
Somebody bigger than you and I.

Chorus:

He lights the way
When the road is dark,
He keeps you company
With love to guide you,
He walks beside you
Just like He walks with me.
When I am weary,
Filled with despair,
Who gives me courage
To go on from there?
And Who gives me faith
That will never die?
Somebody bigger than you and I

This is so different than what we see over the ocean here on the West Coast. When darkness begins to go away we see bits of light peeking over the mountains and lighting the waves. Later we are blessed to watch the skies turn many shades of color as the sun begins to sink into the ocean. Sunset – and then, suddenly, it's gone. It's a favorite time of day at the Oregon Coast for me. Someday I hope to watch the sun rise above the ocean on the eastern shore.

Those sunrise pictures are so pretty and the lyrics to that song quite good.
