Springtime ~ Easter Flowers in Eggshell Pots

By Lorraine

Sweet and dainty, springtime Easter flowers in eggshell pots are super cute. Fill with faux flowers, fresh cut flowers or plant seeds and watch them sprout. Tuck into spaces needing some happy after a dreary winterscape.

This coming Wednesday I am planning to make dinner for our Community Group. These little flower cups will line the dining room table and then be given as small take-home gifts for each lady.

I made extra to use on my kitchen table as we welcome spring.

Pretty little pots all in a row.

Here is how to make Easter Egg Shell Pots

Sweet and dainty, springtime Easter flowers in eggshell pots are super cute. Fill with faux flowers, fresh cut flowers or plant seeds and watch them sprout. Tuck into spaces needing some happy after a dreary winterscape.

Easter Flowers in Eggshell Pots

Supplies:

  • raw eggs
  • Small to medium size silk flowers.  I used bushes and cut stems apart.
  • length of 3/4-inch PVC pipe and saw to cut to about 3/16-inch rings.  We started to cut with a hacksaw but ended up using a table saw.
  • Hot Glue gun and glue sticks
  • glass beads (about 6 for each eggshell)
  • dried moss
  • wire cutters

What I did:

  • Gently poke a hole into the pointed end of egg using a metal skewer or needle.  Chip off some of the shell and pour out egg.  Wash and allow eggshell to dry.
  • I tried several ideas to keep the eggshells standing including wooden pieces used for clothes pin dolls and even a dollop of hot glue but found rings made from PVC piping worked best.  Saw 1/4″  sections and sand to smooth.
  • After centering on egg, apply a circle of hot glue being sure glue makes contact with both ring and egg.  Allow to cool.
  • Cut flower stems to desired length allowing extra for forming a base to anchor securely in eggshell .  Using a pen or pencil, twist extra length of wire into a coil.
  • Squeeze a dollop of hot glue into the eggshell and insert flower stem coil; hold until firm.
  • For added weight, drop glass beads into eggshell around the wire flower stem.  I used six beads per eggshell.
  • Carefully fill opening with dried moss.

Too daggumed cute! FYI, you can put a coat of mod podge solution (half water, half mod podge) on the inside as well as one coat on the outside and these will last you for years! Because egg shells are porous the glue creates a web-like bond that strengthens the shells.

You can get those adorable, glass egg holders to put the egg in. I've seen them at the christmastree shoppe. Also, I've seen everywhere lately, the glass egg holders. They hold 6 eggs and you can get it in a variety of colors. I've seen brown eggs used too. Super cute:) ~ Jamie (the daughter of lorraine)
