Abbey’s Sketches

By Lorraine

Someone commented about a drawing of Mr. Darcy as part of Abbey’s Art exhibit last week, so I thought I would post a couple of pieces for Sepia Scenes.
(Since I took photos instead of scanning, the clarity isn’t great)

Mr. Darcy

This assignment was to draw something that showed refraction of light through water.
Not exactly sepia

I added the sepia tone to this drawing and the last one.
She did these a couple of years ago.

Making a Fort

By Lorraine

Two school snow days in a row.
How does an eighteen year old… and a three year old and a dog alleviate boredom?
Why, you build a fort in the family room using all of the blankets in the linen closet and all of the chairs from the dining room and most of the pillows from the beds.
Of course!
I like to believe Abbey was mainly doing this for Ella’s enjoyment…
but I’m not sure who had more fun.

The Sweet Shoppe

By Lorraine

The snow day was perfect for filling the house with the scent of baking cookies and treats like those in a sweet Shoppe. Outside was a picture of white drifts of falling snow and inside was filled with Christmas music and lots of sugar, butter and baking sheets.

My Baby Girl, Abbey, Making Christmas Cookies

By Lorraine

She just wasn’t having all the fun baking with mom as I envisioned…
…so she did this (she’s my hugger child)

then this…

and more of this…

cause this just wasn’t great fun…

…or all that merry…

…that’s when she decided hugs were much more fun…
and I agree…
sometimes ya just gotta alter your idea of making memories

Thanksgiving Day Memories with Breakfast and Dinner

By Lorraine

This beautiful buffet was prepared by our dear son-in-law, Josh. He’s not only a whiz behind a computer but also behind a grill pan. This yummy pumpkin pancake breakfast is becoming his trademark and much enjoyed as we watched on TV, the balloon floats and marching bands in the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade.Lots of snugglin’ with grandbabies! Also spent a little time looking at the tiny baby girl ensemble that awaits a new arrival due in just a couple of weeks.Continue Reading

More Fun than Scary Vintage Halloween Costumes

By Lorraine

It was such fun preparing this post and seeing again the pictures of the kids growing up.
The expressions on their little faces
made me laugh at times gone by. I guess my mom bought this pattern for someone else because the 1953 date is before I was born. Though I don’t have a picture, I wore the pink bunny costume she made from this pattern when I was a baby.

His Eye is on the Sparrow

By Lorraine

I'm sure I am not the only one to have a bird build a nest and take up residence on or near your front door. Peeking into the nest I saw these beautiful little eggs and immediately thought of the old hymn, His Eye is on the Sparrow.I’m sure I am not the only one to have a bird build a nest and take up residence on or near your front door.
