Double Blessings

By Lorraine

Our middle two have a birthday today.
Can’t you just see the cute, playful, mischievousness, loving and thoughtful spirit of these two.
Always.
My heart overflows
I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
3 John 1:4
* and between them, they have given us 9 precious grandchildren *

Think on These Things #18 ~ Fathers

By Lorraine

Thank you , Dear LORD, for the fathers in our family. Strengthen those still with us, guide them and give them Your wisdom as they seek to raise the children You gave them, in a manner that reflects Your kindness, patience and love. The task is great, LORD. The influence of the world is unrelenting. Draw them ever closer to You and be their constant help.
Nineteen children are represented by the men in this photo.Continue Reading

Toni and Joe

By Lorraine

I knew this day would be a very special one because the two individuals joining hands and hearts together are very special.  This was the day Toni and Joe exchange their vows to one another to be there for each other in all capacities for the rest of their lives.

What Is a PET?

By Lorraine

Pet owners know the love and companionship given so freely from our pets. Read the sweet, What is a Pet poem highlighting the antics and qualities pets bring to our lives.

What is a pet? Sometimes he is most resourceful. I don’t know how he managed it, but this is how I found my pillow-loving pup. Hearing a rustle while working at my computer, I turned around to see Raider, my miniature Schnauzer, in this unique position.

A Collection of Grandchildren

By Lorraine

Enjoying every minute with each other during Jill’s surprise weekend visit
Jill with her Shaela, Ryan & Brenna   ~   Jamie with her Silas, Keri, Noah, Caleb & Cambrie
Wondering when I blinked and this one got so much older.
Ella is not our grandchild but taking care of her for so long, we love just like she was!

Surprise!

By Lorraine

Sitting at my computer last night, I heard children’s voices on the porch and caught a glimpse of blond hair.
It was late but I thought it was Silas and that Jamie was stopping by.
I was delightfully shocked that Jill and the kids were here!
Brad and his dad drove to North Carolina, for a basketball coaches clinic hosted by North Carolina’s coach and Duke’s Coach K. Jill and the children drove in their car to our home.
Ryan, Brenna, Shaela and Raider
Of course, we had to brew a pot of tea to have with our oatmeal breakfast, because tea with cream and sugar cubes is a tradition at Mom-Mom’s.
I loved the sweet note little Shaela left.

A Bushel and a Peck

By Lorraine

I may be being extra sentimental lately but this warmed my heart when I saw it on pinterest.
My mom often would sing this to me when I was little 🙂

here was her version:

~*~

I didn’t know that it came from
the Musical “Guys And Dolls”
(Frank Loesser)
Perry Como & Betty Hutton – 1950 Margaret Whiting & Jimmy Wakely – 1950 Doris Day – 1950 The Andrews Sisters – 1953 Johnny Desmond – 1953 Vivian Blaine – 1953

I love you a bushel and peck
A bushel and peck and a hug around the neck
A hug around the neck and a barrel and a heap
A barrel and a heap and I’m talking in my sleep
About you, about you
Cause I love you a bushel and a peck
you bet your pretty neck,
I do Doodle, oodle, oodle, doodle, oodle, oodle, doodle, oodle, oodle oo
I love you a bushel and peck
A bushel and peck
though you make my heart a wreck
Make my heart a wreck
and you make my life a mess
Make my life a mess,
yes A mess of happiness
About you, about you
Cause I love you
a bushel and a peck
You bet your pretty neck, I do
Doodle, oodle, oodle, doodle, oodle, oodle, doodle, oodle, oodle oo
I love you a bushel and peck
A bushel and peck
and it beats me all to heck
Beats me all to heck
and I’ll never tend the farm
Never tend the farm
when I wanna keep my arm About you,
about you
Cause I love you a bushel and a peck
You bet your pretty neck, I do
Doodle, oodle, oodle, doodle, oodle, oodle, doodle, oodle, oodle oo

Another Blessing

By Lorraine

I went with Jamie and the three oldest kids for her ultrasound.
Everything looks perfect.
And now we know…
a sweet baby girl
just 19 weeks
Her tiny heart beating. Her mouth opening and closing.  Her arm and hand moving toward her mouth.

The Note

By Lorraine

It takes a lot to knock me off my feet, but this illness got me.
Just a head cold but packing a wallop of persistent dry coughing and now sinus.
Better than any medicine was this note and rose I found as I shuffled into the kitchen this morning.
~♥~

There are places I’ll remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I’ve loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I’ll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

Though I know I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I’ll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
In my life I love you more

A Rustic, Vintage, Whimsical Wedding

By Lorraine

Our son-in-law’s only sister was married this past weekend.
They didn’t plan it but their timing of the date was
9~10~11
September 10, 2011
As Joanna stood with her dad, her bother Jeremiah, who pastors in Brasil, spoke on Ephesians.
Jeremy’s grandfather was involved in the Giving in Marriage.

This wedding was so special to us on so many levels.
Sitting in the packed church, my heart overflowed as I looked around and saw so many dear church friends of so many years.
Our friends, with their children, now young adults that I knew since they were toddlers and kids.
All grown and beginning families of their own.

Jane & Alex

By Lorraine

Our trip to New York a couple weeks ago was short (Friday evening to Sunday afternoon) with every minute filled to the brim and so exciting. Time with our kids and grandchildren as well as (our son-in-law) Brad’s family was the best.
I even found time to teach Rudy (a little yorkie poo) how to shake with his paw.
Brad’s sister, Jane asked me a year and a half ago, if I would take pictures of her wedding.

She’s All Grown Up

By Lorraine

We attended a most beautiful wedding this past Friday evening.
The daughter of our next-door neighbor.
Carly Michele turned from an adorable baby girl into a lovely woman in the blink of an eye.
The marriage ceremony was beautiful.  Personal and directed to this young couple with wise words as they begin a life long journey together.
