Friends getting together

Long-time college friends are the best. Though they didn’t connect for many years after graduation, John and his college cohorts are now making up for lost time. We intentionally schedule a day every two to three  months and meet at one of the three couples homes.

It is easy to make using just four ingredients. These alumni were all education majors and became career teachers except John who went, instead into a corporate lab and then into sales. And what a hoot these folks are. So much love and laughter happens at every get-together.

Oh, and food happens. Great food too. The host family provides the entree meal and the other two supply the appetizers and desserts.

Tipsy Brie Appetizer

We mix things up, of course, depending on the time of year and what is fresh at the market. Tipsy Brie is a favorite anytime. Served warm from the oven with crackers and fruit, it is always a hit.

And it takes just a few minutes and ingredients to prepare the brie for the oven. 15 minutes later and sweet topping combines with the melted cheese for a fabulous flavor.

An ever popular appetizer, Tipsy Brie is easy and delicious. Just three ingredients on top of a round of brie and warmed in the oven until melted and gooey. Perfect New Year's Eve party food!

A little about brie

Brie, a soft cow’s-milk cheese is named after Brie, the French region from which it originated. It is pale in color with a rind of white mold. The white outside of the cheese is completely edible.

Storage

Brie cheese, is a soft cheese and very rich and creamy. This softness allows for the rapid widespread growth of bacteria if the cheese is not stored correctly.

Refrigerate brie cheese immediately after purchase, and store in the refrigerator. It is recommended to store at a temperature of 39 degrees F. or lower. Keep in a tightly sealed container or plastic wrap.

It looks like it would take so much more time to make than what it does. You never fail to put together something delicious
