Gifts from Your Kitchen

Fig and Date Nut Bread mini loaves for Christmas gift giving.

I needed a few hostess gifts, so this week I heated the oven and got busy. I tripled one of my favorite quick bread recipes. Fig and Date Nut Bread is baked in mini loaf pans making them the perfect size for gifting. The recipe makes three mini loaves so I ended up with 9 all together.

After cooling completely, the breads are tucked into cellophane bags and tied closed with thread or ribbon.

The Fig and Date Nut Bread looked so pretty in a large bowl on my dining room table that I was tempted to keep them as a centerpiece.   ðŸ™‚

The little loaves are perfect to give away just as they are, but for this occasion I wanted something more special.

Using square plates with marble-like gold and silver veins and small coordinating bowls from HomeGoods, I stood three loaves of bread on each plate, added a package of chocolates and a container of whipped cream cheese.

Cellophane wrap, a satin ribbon, a piece of evergreen and a couple of candy canes held it all together and the gifts looked pretty.

Here are some more food gift ideas…

Lots of gifts from your kitchen inspiration

Chocolate dipped dried apricots and pineapple make lovely food gifts from your kitchen.

Chocolate dipped dried apricots is a great no-bake recipe. It works well with dried pineapple chunks as well.

After dipping and allowing the chocolate to firm and harden, arrange the pieces in a clear stemmed glass. A piece of plastic wrap seals the glass without distracting from the pretty fruit. Embellish with a ribbon bow and a sprig of fresh or faux greenery.

Cookie Food Gifts

Appreciated Christmas holiday food gifts from you kitchen include packaged chocolate chip cookies with a festive bow.

A sleeve of chocolate chip cookies is always well received. Stack the cookies in a cellophane bag and secure the top with a piece tulle tied into a bow. Here are a few suggestions for cookies that look especially festive.

  • Chocolate Chip Cookies
  • Russian Tea Cakes
  • Pecan Tassies
  • Orange Spice Shortbread
  • Spritz Cookies

Easy holiday gifts your friends will love, chocolate chip cookie dough in festive packaging is frozen and ready to bake. Fresh from the oven, homemade cookies without the work!

Slice and Bake Cookie Dough requires no baking on your part. Just make the dough and the recipient bakes it when they are in the mood for a fresh-from-the-oven cookie!

Chocolate Biscotti Christmas food gift from your kitchen

One of my all-time favorite cookies is Chocolate Biscotti. If you have a friend who enjoys a good cup of coffee, you might want to make a batch just for them!

No-Bake food Gifts

Homemade Vanilla Extract is an easy 2-ingredient recipe. Pour vodka over vanilla beans and wait for flavor to develop. Great gift for bakers.

Homemade Vanilla Extract takes a little time to develop but so worth it. Better than store bought and less expensive, it makes a very special gift to those who like to bake.

Quick and easy Lemon Curd is made in the microwave. Serve in a beautiful glass and tie with a bow for lovely food gifts from your kitchen.

I love Lemon Curd on toast, English muffins, pancakes, crepes or licking off the spoon. Well, I know I shouldn’t be eating spoonful’s but it is that good!

And, it is so easy to make right in the microwave using just a few ingredients! Package it in a Mason jar or in a pretty glass.

Scone food gifts

Fresh baked scones in festive bags are lovely and appreciated food gifts from your kitchen.

Scones look tasty and work well when individually packaged. If you rather, add a paper with the name of the treat printed from your computer. Cut to fit the width of the cellophane bag, fold it over and staple a couple of times to secure. Here are a few of my favorite scone recipes.

  • Sweet Lavender Scones
  • Toasted Almond Gingerbread Scones
  • Frosted Apple Scones

Comforting Gifts from Your Kitchen

A jar of homemade soup and fresh baked muffins are much appreciated food gifts from your kitchen.

Make a pot of your favorite soup and fill up a large Mason Jar. Add a ribbon and a tag with reheating instructions. If you want to go the extra mile, bake a batch of Honey Corn Muffins for a hot and comforting ready-made meal! Here are a few soup recipes for inspiration.

  • Hamburger and Barley Vegetable Soup
  • Italian Sausage Tortellini Soup
  • Unstuffed Cabbage Soup
